The kettle is a basic one, meaning that it boils and switches off automatically and that's it. It does however boil extremely fast. The lid is a touch fiddly as there's no push button to release it, you have give it a slight yank and it's open. Also you cannot stop the kettle from boiling by pressing the on/off, you have to take it off the base or let it boil till the end. Nevertheless a nice looking kettle. We got the cream one which is more like a very delicate butter colour more than cream but that's just my perception. Expected cheap looking plastic to use til I bought a proper one but it is really good. Has a massive capacity and is still really light. Don't be put off by the thin base.
