## Description

The HF-150A Standard Duty whole house system traps sediment, reduces scale that can clog faucets and ruin plumbing. Included with the unit is a built-in pressure relief valve.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If PVC pipe is used in the well house, can this be attached using that type of pipe and fittings**
A: I used silicone gasket compound on the fittings that screw into the filter housing instead of teflon tape to make sure they would not leak. I purchased a Culligan mounting bracket to help support the filter housing since the pipe is cpvc. I also added by-pass valves and pipe so that if I need to replace the filter housing I will still have water. A few dollars more, but I will always have water.

**Q: Can be installed outdoor?**
A: I installed mine outdoor but I built a small 'closet' around it to protect it from freezing temperatures AND from the sun since UV typically degrades plastic.

**Q: Does it reduce water pressure? A water pump is needed before the filter?**
A: Yes it will reduce water pressure like any other filter. I have the 3/4" version and when the filter has a new cartidge in it, pressure drop is about 1-2 PSIG. Over time as the filter does it's job, pressure drop increases. I get about 2 months with a 10 micron filter. I have a well system, so obviously has a pump. If you're filtering city water, the city has pumps. Bottom line, to use this system you must have a pump to force the water through it. Hope this helps...

**Q: what pressure drop can I expect with a new filter**
A: I have a pressure gauge after the filters, which I have 2, a 5 micron and then a 1 micron and there is no pressure drop. It has 55 psi coming in to my house and 55 psi after both of the filters. The only time I notice a drop is when they get dirty. The 5 micron filter is usually good for 90 days and the 1 micron filter is usually good for 6 months. The pressure drop is never more than 5 psi.

Easy to install. Remember to install ball valves at the inlet and outlet to have an effortless filter changing process. Purchase high quality filters. DISCLAIMER: Get a licensed plumber to install it to insure proper installation.
