It is flimsy, but what I cannot understand is that there are no instructions at all with it on how to install the batteries. It was by guesswork that I realised that only one screw had to be removed to open the battery compartment rather than all of the screw to split the tambourine (the instrument is transparent , so you could be confused in what you have to do to open the battery compartment - I was). The battery compartment is also very tight for the batteries and getting them in and out (by prising them with the small screw driver head) is delicate if you don't want to snap any of the casing. For the price I suppose that they are ok, but I doubt that they will last very long.
