**Q: Is this item made in America or China?**
A: China per Lodges website

**Q: Why do they tell you that is made in America and then when you get it it says made in China maybe that's just a printing error**
A: I didn’t pay attention to that. Doesn’t matter since it’s not touching the food. Super strong and very handy tool. To pick up lid and rest lid on top of it !!

**Q: Would anyone recommend purchasing this item for use at home?  In other words, do you use it with your dutch oven, when taking it out of the oven?**
A: I agree with previous posts.  It would be like using a cannon when a pistol would do!  I would simply use potholders, but I would not use the this dutch oven in my gas oven at home.

**Q: What is the top metal bar, near the handle, for?**
A: Not really sure.  I wrapped my fingers around it when using it. Also,  note that the metal above the bar is twisted. That twist ends on the bar, so it may be just part of the design.

When we lost power for a week due to a hurricane, we did a lot of campfire cooking with our Dutch oven. This handle helped a lot with lifting the lid, but also the whole Dutch oven using the handle of the oven and the curved section of the hook. Well designed.
