I'm always on thr wrong side of every door except in the fact that I hate to be cold, so it had me interested at the word thermal. I have a lot of thermal underlayers for a southerner to be honest, but some are too tight, some too loose, some keep you warm but maybe a little too warm to where you're left damp, some are so thin that it's not even worth the effort and don't even get me started on materials. Btw, I'm real fun at parties. Lol. Anyway, this shirt is almost like a thin sweatshirt in t-shirt form, but warm. Or even vice versa, a thicker t-shirt with a sweatshirt interior. It fits really nice without being overly clingy or loose to the point that you can't wear it under anything else. I put it through a good stretch test when I accidentally put it on backwards while trying to multitask (not a good idea when trying on clothing), so I pulled my arms in and did the turnaround thing without pulling it back over my head. With the stress test I put it through, it didn't rip, tear or stretch to the point of being "stretched out" and deformed, instead it just went right back to its original shape.
