When you extend or shorten the straps they stay where they are and don't slide. And the backpack material itself is thin but durable. Use: I was looking for something I can use now, but also my toddler can use as they age and this is perfect. Not too big or small. It fits what I need/ carry everyday (pack of wipes, a few diapers, change of clothes, water, snacks, and some misc. items). All in all I am very pleased with this and I recommend it! I am making this review right when I received it, so if any flaw comes up later I'll try to remember to edit this.
