A smaller size would probably have been fine as well, but quick and easy is more important to me than size. It was easy to compress the bag down nicely. The seams did not look stressed when I did this. It would have been even better if the two straps with buckles also had the compression strap hardware so they could be quickly lengthened when you are releasing it. This would make it faster to be ready to use it again. It's only a small inconvenience though to have to feed the straps back through to lengthen them.
