**Q: I am buying as a gift. Does the purchase include a guide or sharpening instructions?**
A: Hello. It includes a very simple guide, but there are thousands of complete instructions on YouTube. This set is amazing good quality, and reasonably priced. Use always with baby oil (mineral oil) or soapy water (You have to choose before using, because once you put oil on it you cant use water). Soapy water i think is less messy and works great. Sorry my english, i'm from Chile

**Q: How do i tell which stone is soft arkansas vs hard arkansas vs black arkansas**
A: The black arkansas is black. The hard white atkansas stone will feel smoother than ghe soft. And the soft will have a rougher texture than the white or black. 

Also the wood bases are labeled.

**Q: Use soapy not pure water? These are 100% natural stone?**
A: 1.  Yes, they are 100% natural stones.  2.  Mineral oil is the best lubricant to use on Arkansas sharpening stones. It does a better job of preventing the stones from clogging. (Most common Baby Oil is just Mineral Oil with fragrance added).  If you are sharpening in a kitchen and have a sink nearby, then using soapy water is a viable method.  A lubricant suspends the steel shavings from your blade and prevents them from clogging the stone. Soapy water will sink into the cavities of the stones more quickly so you will have to add it more frequently.

**Q: Do these wood blocks that hold the stones come with a top?**
A: Not sure what you mean by a top.  These stones are mounted on block bases that I put in a small vise to hold while I sharpen knives on the stones.
