I didn’t rinse the ones in my home tank and two of my shrimp in that tank went straight to them and then and I never saw them visit it again. I DID, however, rinse the ones I dropped in my work tank and those shrimp didn’t even blink. They were not interested. But fast forward a week or so, I finally found one of my shrimp in my work tank feeding on it. I’m guessing the balls need to start breaking down before the shrimp can really get anything off of them. I’m also guessing that the reason the two shrimp went to the first ball was because there was residue on it but then it rinsed off. I have not seen any negative results of having them in there. Both my fish and shrimp seem to be doing well. They are priced well. I’m told the should be replenished about every 3 months. I will definitely purchase these again when they finally break down.
