After manipulating my actions, my husband of 34ys cleaned out our house & accounts to move in with his married gf without a word. He then manipulated our children to disown me. He is an extreme, covert, abusive, alcoholic narcissist who uses our children as his flying monkeys. But, even now I still love and devote my life to. In an interview for publication he even stated what a great job I did raising our children and how proud he was..... and then he was gone with everything & never a word. I've been through Hell with him. I suffered physical, emotional, mental, financial abuse to the point that I have had to have half my neck rebuilt and my spleen was damaged amongst other injuries and now am forced to live in a 20' camper. His preference if legal would have been to have took me out & shoot me in the head. I live in fear of him every day. This book helped me a lot. And as I said it answered a lot of questions. It also has a lot of resources for people who are or have encountered a narcissist. Even if you haven't, you should read this so you don't end up like me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brutally honest *by T***N on October 2, 2013* Although this book may read as quite aggressively unkind towards the narcissist it could be exactly what you are looking for. Both narcissists and co-dependents do not live close enough to objective reality, and sometimes a sharp kick of awakening is required to change the situation.I first came across the book when reading the authors website when searching on the internet. I was surprised just how many of the statements rang true. This intrigued me to get the book which I read in about 24-48 hours with ease. It connected with me on a deep level, the part of me that was unhappy with my own situation and was looking for some answers. Reading this book is like getting the battle plans for the enemy general, a must have for a recurring victim of a narcissist. It really helped me to put a stop to some of the painful cycles that kept reoccurring.This book will not give you any long term ideas or expand much upon the theme. At times the authors own pain and resentment did shine through the written word, but this just made it more real. I would say this book is a great starting point for those wishing to understand a narcissist, and will help a co-dependent to escape the traps they keep falling for. However, you may wish to supplement with more in depth and researched reading once you get over the initial eye-opening first steps. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good read! *by A***R on March 9, 2020* Not comprehensive by any means, but this book is more of a highlight, or the summary version, into the world of NPD. I’m the victim of a NPD spouse, and this book definitely validated many of the things I’ve endured over the past 30 years. I certainly have much more to learn about NPD and, more importantly, how to rise above the blame-shifting and gaslighting. The more I can learn about my spouse, the better I can separate myself from the abuse.
