While I've seen a couple of very small edges chip off, it's less than other brands that I've tried. That said, it's quite easy to get enough chalk off within a few seconds, and easily enough to coat my hands without going after it time after time. Thickness is somewhere near 1.5" and well suited for anything in a workout routine except for maybe climbing. I hold onto kettlebells and dumbbells up to 50# and don't need to recoat partway through 3-4 sets. I've been using this multiple times a day now for a couple of months and haven't even begun to work my way through the first brick... probably last me a year or so and I can see the entire package lasting 3-5 years. Every block was perfect, no broken blocks, or even a dusty box. All intact, chef's kiss on the packing. I consider this a soft block but snappy. After crush it leaves pieces but it was quite easy to powder down with my hands. No burden on the hands to break up, 🙌 and very inexpensive. The texture and consistency was soft but snappy. **Q: What does it taste like?**
A: There’s a chemical taste. Burned my tongue. Couldn’t eat the rest of the evening. And the morning after.  It was textured which would have been nice except my tongue got super hot and heavy while chewing it . Try the one in the pink and white packaging. Much better. No chemical taste.

**Q: What ingredients where used to make this chalk?**
A: Ingredients: Magnesium Carbonate, Ethyl Alcohol Solvent, and Rosin. Important question honestly, because unfortunately, it's not "CHALK", it's not that simple and chalk isn't naturally liquid. People who respond to important questions in a smart-aleck way are literally causing the decline in our basic industry standards.

**Q: how many lifts will this last me?**
A: A box of eight identical blocks from a different manufacturer has lasted me nearly three years.  I use it only when I deadlift heavy (without straps, hook grip, around 475 lbs now; started using it at around 275), which was twice a week for approximately the first 15 months I used the chalk, and then once a week since.  For the past six months I've also used it for trap bar Farmer's carries of ~ 425 pounds once or twice a week.  I'm beginning to use it once a week for heavy presses. Your mileage will vary, obviously, based on which lifts you use it for.    I keep it crumbled in a Ziploc bag so it's not open in a bowl or otherwise exposed to humidity.  Bottom line is that eight blocks of this stuff will last you a long while if you lift.

**Q: I know this gymchalk is only sold in the US. But what country was it made in?**
A: China.

No complaints with this chalk. It sits outside in a bowl ready to use when I’m lifting. Seems to be fine outside in Texas humidity. I’ll buy more when I need to.
