The key issue is the 1 Inch measurement which is the front to back opening of the pocket. If your insulin pump is less than 1 inch thick; I believe it could slip out if you bent over. My old Razor flip phone fits perfectly in this holder; leading me to believe it was originally intended for that use. I gave it to a buddy that is a competitive pistol shooter. While true it is a little wide for the reader, I found placing the reader in a silicone case (8.99 here on Amazon) and then into this holder, makes the fit much better. I also noticed the reader sat deep into the case so I cut some of the packaging foam then placed it into the bottom of the case so now the reader sits a tad higher and is easier to grab onto.
