It will fit. **Q: Is 12x16 the inside or outside dimension? I need the inside dimension.** A: The Masterson Artist Palette Seal has inside dimensions of slightly larger than 12" x 16", so it is intended to hold 12" x 16" palette pads or sheets. You can use the same refill products (acrylic sheets and sponges) as what is recommended to use with the Masterson Premier Palette. **Q: Amazon doesn't sell the sponges and paper for a reasonable price. Anyone tried paper towel/parchment paper?** A: I use this pallette for my for acrylic paint but it could work for oil too. I first laid it down plastic vegetable cutting mat (which can be bought on Amazon for relatively little cost) shiny side up. Then I fold up paper towels line along the edges and wet them down which is where I put the paint. I then spray the paint with a spray bottle occasionally and about once or twice a week when not in use, and they usually last fresh for about three to four weeks, but if mildew starts to appear just rip out that particular color replace it. When the paint dries it peals off the plastic cutting boards easily. The only difference for oil is that I would probably keep it in the freezer to keep the Paint fresh and would not spray the paint. This is a modified technique that is taught by Jerry Yarnell who has written several books on acrylic painting. **Q: Can oil paints be stored directly on plastic for storing?** A: NO. Either cut a fitted piece of glass (heavy) or several pieces of plexiglass (light but scratches over time) or use the palette paper.
