It is also very small. The bulb area is small, and the neck of the lamp is small. My plants (small aloe vera plants) are on a table and I cannot hook this to the table and get the light to shine on them from above, because it is not tall enough. The light is very bright but doesn't reach far. I wouldn't mind the size so much if it weren't for the loud humming noise! I would not recommend this for that reason. It is wonderful and I plan on buying at least two more! The clip is very sturdy and it stays clipped to anything I clip it to. The heads move in all directions and stay where you position them.
