I put them under metal shelves. The seeds in the soil need to be very close to the lights For them to grow . I have them under 3 shelves. When plants grow I put them outside in raised beds **Q: Will these work for roses and nine bark that i couldnt plant this year? Just need to make it through winter zone 4/5.** A: I use it under metal shelves with seeds to start them The seed starter is in small pots and has to be right up against the light.
