I wear it to bed and when I wake up I do have ridges in my skin from where it sat all night, so it is compressing some. It also serves as a reminder when in bed not to twist in certain ways. Really glad I found this and have recommended it to my bff and brother who have knee issues.Update: Over time, the side supports bend if you bend your knee while wearing this, and they sometimes pinch and they do stay bent out of shape. Also I had a problem with them rolling down on me, its the shape of my legs but when my husband wears them, he doesn't have that issue. He says that his knees don't hurt as bad while he wears them and so he feels better after teaching.
