In addition, I have a CPAP machine that requires Distilled Water. I got this machine to use to avoid the scale on my pots when boiling water. I addition, the specifications exceed the requirements for my CPAP machine. I love the idea of not having to buy Distilled water at the store on a frequent basis. It also filters organic and chemical impurities for very safe drinking water. The system will take our tap water (500 ppm TDS - Total Disolved Solids) and bring it down to less than 40 ppm TDS. Great tasting and excellent for cooking. I does come with an optional filter to put back the health minerals if you want. One note: this uses Reverse Osmosis for one of the purification steps. Because of this, you will not be able to filter 100% of the water you put in the tank. I throw away half of the water I start with for best results. Reverse Osmosis concentrates the imputities so that you start with 4 liters of water and end up with 2 liters of pure water and 2 liters of water with twice the impurities.
