Not room darkening. I can see outline of objects through them. To be able to scrunch material together I needed 3 packages to cover a sliding glass door. I bought the third package at a different time and I thought that it was from a different person and the color of the material matched the other two packages so that was Good.( material is not always matching even though it's the same design when it comes from a different bolt). The picture in my opinion is not exactly true to what is received, mine had thin gold/yellow stripes with wider dark and light blue stripes. I thought it was going to have sage green stripes as well.
