I wasn't sure it would work when rolling a bar in an arc, as opposed to a straight line, but the arc turns out to be so slight when moving such a short distance that it works perfectly. It's purpose, of course, is to hold up one plate of any given size while other plates of the same size are loaded on or taken off, though I find that use less necessary, especially with 25s). If you put on a 25, then you can raise that 25 off the ground to make loading additional 25s easy.
