Do these free standing ones work? need 8 inch tall.** A: Yes all I have used is free standing liners, but go for a little more than the cheapest I have found a qualitative difference I can shoot you of the new one I am using **Q: How does this product differ from your more expensive (amz item # ‎1-05-promax-01 ‎) promax liner?** A: I dont know how it differs, but the corners fold down in the edge a bit but I also have a toddler and a mastiff who sleep on it with me and it is lasting through them **Q: Is this strong enough to put the waterbed on the floor without a frame?** A: I wouldn't use a liner if there is no frame. If the floor is smooth then you can keep the mattress well stretched all time then avoid leaks due to wrinkles. I imagine you could use the mattress without a liner but I can't guarantee it as I have never tested. After you experiment it, please share your results. **Q: How does this work with 8" tall wood sides?** A: Our sides are 8"wood and we don't have any problems. The liner is about 1/2" shorter than our sides. We have rail pads on three sides that reach below the top edge of the liner. This is the thickest liner we have ever used - mainly because it is our 11 year old's first water bed and wanted to make sure that any punctures , leaks, etc were contained. Our rail pads are probably 30 years old and fit very tight.
