Good grip as quite big handle and easy to clean. You don't really need a blade guard like on some others but you need a not too thin doled blunt blade . It doesn't need to be sharp but has to be sturdy. You do not need a glove either just a towel to protect your hand. Check online videos first we ll save you a lot of time and stabbing yourself. You insert the tip of the knife at the pointy end of the oyster where there is the natural gap rather horizontally than vertically (you will see why once you be opened the first one - you can't vertically as it is solid nacre). You push the knife in 1cm max and then gently give a little twist and by magic it just pop open.
