With dried goods and tins, food can often be absolutely fine for *years* after the BBE (Best Before End). If a tin is dented or looks "bloated", however, something might have gone wrong and you should eat ASAP, if at all. Always do a smell test. If it smells different to how it *should* smell, I suggest dumping it. Advanced warning, though: the *taste* and *nutritional value* will depleat over-the-years. **Q: Is this halal as can't have halal** A: I can’t say for sure as halal is not important to me, however I have lived in countries where halal was a priority. For me it meant the method in which an animal was slaughtered in order to make food and covered animal products used in creating food stuffs. I don’t know what you mean when you say you can’t have halal. Why? Religious reasons? I thought the issue was that if you needed to ensure your food was halal then you had to understand if it contained animal products and, if so, how they were slaughtered and hung. This product contains chick peas and tahini (sesame seeds crushed in olive oil). It probably passes the test for halal but I don’t think that this means that people avoiding the halal slaughter of animals need fear it. **Q: Is this kosher?** A: As far as I know. I don’t need it to be but I think it was by the description.
