Not very rugged, and it kinda opens weird - like, you have to kinda encourage the frame to pop into the correct position as it doesn't really want to and wants to kinda hyperextend or not pop out the right way. I can see that possibly going poorly, wind would be a nightmare, but I also don't have high hopes and I'll use it as long as it'll last I guess. If I saw it in a store and could open it up before buying I probably wouldn't have bought it, but I realistically will never return it before the return by date so I might as well get some use out of it. Pretty much feels like a disposable "just in case" umbrella that likely won't tolerate the first use. But if it does, that's great. I'll explain more about what I hoped to use it for vs how I think it'll hold up now that I've seen the actual product, then will try and remember to come back and update once I use it. I bought it to attach to my pack for rainy hikes. I was hoping to attach it to the front pack strap just to keep rain from draining down into my coat/gear/etc. Not necessary, but a nice luxury on really crappy days when thru hiking, and it is incredibly light weight so I figured it would be worth it to just have a little relief from the rain to help dry myself out a bit on a miserable day hiking. I also wanted to bring it on an upcoming weekend trip just city walking as a "just in case" sort of thing to keep in my bag without weighing it down. I imagine it'll be a fine disposable umbrella for the upcoming trip where I'll just be roaming around a new city, but if it's windy even the slightest bit this umbrella will not survive. I assume I'll be throwing it away mid trip. I also can't imagine it'll be packable in my hiking pack mostly because it likely wouldn't tolerate being smushed at all as it's pretty flimsy. I will likely only use it on potentially rainy day hikes, but will not bring it on my thru hike as I was hoping. It is incredibly lightweight. It comes with a sleeve thing to put it in but I never really keep those so that's already in the trash, but if that's important to you then that's something it does come with. The very end of the umbrella does have a little lip to the little stub thing on the handle so the frame things tuck into the lip of the stub so they don't get all bent or caught on stuff - like once you collapse the umbrella and shorten the handle part, the little frame pieces tuck into the knob thing at the bottom. The knob is very small which does help with weight, but it doesn't make it any less difficult to hold onto I don't think. Also has a string so you can hang it, and a velcro tab thing like most umbrellas do so you can tighten and contain the arms of the umbrella when packing it down. Typical umbrella features I guess, but just lightweight and compact. Overall the umbrella is a decent just-in-case umbrella (if it ends up working out and not breaking), but durability is not something I see in this umbrella's future. I will update if I end up pleasantly surprised. So far it struggled even opening up consistently so we'll see.
