Worked great as a replacement for FolgerTech I3 2020 Reprap

The quality of this hot end appears to be quite good. A few notes:1. As another reviewer stated the heat sink is full size, I swapped my heat sink from the MK7 over so I could fit my print cooling fans on again.2. Had to swap the back plate off of the original FolgerTech stepper motor to get it to fit perfectly. The back of the FolgerTech is flush all the way across, this one is not it has the corners cut out where the screws go. The supplied back cased the extruder not to be parallel with the print bed.3. The hot end worked flawlessly for several days and then it was under extruding. Ended up being the toothed drive pulley on the stepper motor. The set screws were loose. Make sure to check those. Once tightened all was well. All in all it was a good experience and fit perfectly. The printer is printing better than I can remember and I did not even have to calibrate the stepper motor.UPDATE:After several months of printing things started not to go well. The fan is on the cheap side and squeals. The heater block was installed upside down which made me have to disassemble the entire extruder to get the heating element out.All in all it is still worth it, just take it apart and make sure they put it together right.

    Good replacement hotend.

I purchased this hotend to replace an ailing hotend on my Folgertech 2020i. The original hotend was a standard Mk7. I was hoping that an all-metal hotend would improve the overall reliability of the printer. Here are my observations:1. It's all metal. That means that it will last and doesn't need the cooling block that is normally on the throat. The metal body of the hotend acts as a heatsink, so you don't have to worry about the filament melting up in the extruder.2. This model came with a very beefy throat. The PTFE lining was thicker than normal, which means that the throat will last longer.3. The design of the extruder makes it a little harder to feed filament into the extruder. There's a significant gap between the extruder gear and the entrance to the throat and it's a little tricky getting the filament all the way in.4. The heatsink is full-size. My old MK7 hotend has the ability to mount secondary cooling fans to the hotend where the heatsink is. This one does not. It's a simple matter to swap out for the old heat sink, but it's worth noting.5. Myold MK7 hotend had a strap on the cooling block that the cables would be fed through as a strain release. Since this hotend does not have a cooling block, that option is missing. I'll have to see if it can be modified (hole drilled) to add that back. So, after installing the new hotend and re-leveling my printer for new position of the extruder nozzle, I have had no more issues with filament getting stuck in the hotend or other feed issues. I'm pleased with the hotend and its quality and would recommend it for others looking for an upgrade.
