Perfect Cane; Classy & Lovely; Excellent Craftsmanship
Hello! I am 38yo, with years of chronic pain and hypermobility issues. I finally decided it was time to get some balance support. I researched many canes, knowing I wanted something comfortable, light, ergonomic, but also classy; no cheap shiny aluminum for this gal! As soon as I found Asterom I knew I had found my cane. Major bonus- as I saw many reviewers also said- to be supporting a small family business in Ukraine during the war. I even received a Thank You note for supporting them during this incredibly difficult time. I chose the Cherry finish, and it is just as advertised in the photos: rich, deep, gorgeous. I have already been complimented several times on it, and I've only had it for three days! As their instructions advised, I knew I needed it to be shortened. My friend was able to easily hand-saw it down a couple of inches for the perfect fit. Not only is it helping with my hips and balance, it's already helping me re-train my gait; my physical therapist informed me that my arches have fallen, and I have been compensating by curling my little toes in like claws. I had not figured out how to start fixing this problem- now with this beautiful cane I can safely adjust my gait without worrying about falling down. Being perfectly honest here: I have been an Amazon customer since the 90s' when I was young and simply thrilled that I could find rare books on this magical thing called the internet. Over the decades I have purchased hundreds upon hundreds of various items. When I get something I adore, I always feel bad that I am terrible about leaving reviews. This time, what I have received is so life-changing, this is literally the first I have taken the time to write a full review. I want to help people know that this company is great, their product is excellent and just as advertised, the cane is easily shortened, and we get to support a family business during this unbearable time of survival for them. I hope this helps someone choose quality and comfort over other, cheap products. Cheers and thank you Asterom! And who knows, maybe someday I will get one of their gorgeous custom handles. For now, I am thrilled with the product as it is. Oh- info I know I am always looking for in reviews: I am 5'4" (slightly taller with basic shoes), 130lb and we cut the 36" cane down about 2.5" and now it is perfect (as suggested, we matched the lowest part of the handle with my wrist bone at a relaxed stand). Side note- I already managed to drop it on the concrete and the finish is pretty fragile. I lost a tiny bit of the finish and roughened the Oak up a bit on the handle, but my brilliant coworker rubbed some candle wax on the spots and it smoothed out right away. No big deal, just FYI. It does come with a strap, but I hadn't shortened it yet so it slipped right off my small wrist. For now I just taped it to shorten the loop, and eventually will sew it when I know exactly where I want it. Best of luck to the Asterom family and everyone shopping for their forever walking support!

An excellent, beautiful cane (and a good cause too!)
Look, nobody wants to become any sort of expert on canes, but the sad truth of the matter is that’s what it’s come to, as far as my life goes. I'm in full time need of a cane… So I can assure you: this is an excellent cane. It is seriously stout and strong (and still amazingly light and completely solid). I’m a big dude, and use it to walk around of course, but I actually need it now to pull my weight up from a chair or couch or back down again, and it supports my full weight as I do this. I can fully trust in this cane to support me even though I weight over two hundred pounds. And on top of that, this cane is crafted in Ukraine, this family business is hanging on through this awful chapter in their history, so when you buy one of his canes, you’re directly helping a Ukrainian man and his family. The last thing I’ll mention is that this type of handle that goes off to one side (as opposed to being centered on the cane) is really the best and most comfortable if you’re going to be using it a lot in supporting your weight. This is an excellent cane and you’ll be extra-pleased with your purchase with the added satisfaction that it’s directly supporting a family business in a war-torn country. It’s strong and functional and beautiful, you can’t go wrong…

Perfect Design, Superb Quality
It is very rare for me to take the time to write a review. What can I say that the other reviewers haven't, but I'll mention a few things. I purchased what is described on the manufacturer website as a "saddle cane" in a walnut finish. I was tempted to purchase the "Vesper" ergonomic derby cane handle but I like the elegance and classic look of the one I purchased - crossing my fingers that the ergonomics were good. Success. The feel and grip is great, especially a reverse grip (pointing the handle end forward). I am so impressed with the quality and sturdiness. I was perplexed as to why there was so much talk about the metal ring between the handle and the shaft. This is a cylinder that forms the structural couple between the two wooden pieces. Now I understand. It is quite thick and sturdy. The cane is oak wood but, though it is sturdy, it seems quite light (as other reviewers have noted). Advice to the manufacturer: Add the ring thickness to the description, since it is such a favorite of customers. And, given your superb attention to quality, my suggestion is to add a few exotic woods to your line (if you can get them reliably), but only as long as you don't compromise your manufacturing quality. A cane can be such a personal item, I wish I could thank those who crafted this one. Absent that, please give them a thank you for me.

Wife LOVES her Asterom Walking Cane
I purchased an Asterom cane a few weeks ago as I am finally at the point of giving in to the inevitable...my chronic pain and incurable disease has finally gotten to the point that I needed one. I love my Asterom cane so much I ordered a second, different design, which was every bit as nice as the first. My wife, who is a cancer survivor, and petite 5' 85 lbs has had mobility issues ever since her chemo but was too stubborn to get a much needed cane. She thought my cane was beautiful, but she refused to order one for herself...yes she is THAT stubborn...but after seeing me getting around easily with such a well made work of art in a cane, she said she might consider one. Well, that discussion went on for a week. Finally I ordered one for her without her knowledge, and it arrived today. I put it together and handed it to her. She has not put it down since. Her Asterom walking cane is every bit as well made as mine ( different design and size) and just as perfectly crafted. Like mine, hers is well balanced, strong, and truly a handcrafted work of art. She finally admitted that she should have gotten one sooner, and Asterom is my one and only choice for a quality cane.

A proper cane.
Handmade in Ukraine from oak with a beautiful finish on the wood. A work of art that is also very functional. I am a retired ER physician who now needs help with supporting a bad hip. This cane feels completely stable and sturdy. The price is only slightly more than canes that are flimsy from big factory suppliers. I also have their carbon fiber model for keeping in my car and for travel. Highly recommended.

Very elegant cane.
Handsome cane . Beautiful quality and craftsmanship. Solid wood. Nice handle. I like that we were given a choice of height. The cane is solid wood do not adjustable, obviously. So know how tall your person is. It comes with a spare rubber tip and hand loop. I love that it’s made by a Ukrainian company sponsored by an American company. Very cool.

Not bad, but the stain comes off easily
The cane itself is fine. The handle is comfortable and it seems stable. The tip is good and it’s nice they include a spare as well as a wrist strap. The cane feels a lot lighter than I expected, but it doesn’t seem flimsy. It’s not an exceptional value, but it’s not bad. Only thing I don’t like is that the stain comes off very easily and the color ends up on your hands. It can happen with sweat and is much worse with an alcohol based hand sanitizer. This is understandable, but I wouldn’t buy this kind of cane again due to this issue. This is my first cane, so went with something cheaper to make sure I had the size right and that the handle style was comfortable. Next time, I’ll get something custom made out of ebony or a naturally darker wood that doesn’t require a color stain.

Beautiful cane that's a perfect fit.
As I get older (83) I'm finding that I can walk with more confidence and with a quicker step if I use a cane or a walking stick. This is a handmade, handmade, walking stick/cane that is manufactured by a family company in Ukraine. There are multiple sizes by height, so I could get one that fit right out of the box without requiring sawing and modification like other canes. This is a solid wooden cane and doesn't look like the metal adjustable (cheap looking) canes and walking sticks but is modestly priced without looking cheap. The only assembly required is to place the joint ring on the main body and screw the handle onto the stick to complete the cane. Asterom sells a wide rubber base it you need one for stability or you prefer a cane that stands on its own.

Great Craftsmanship
I ordered this and expected the entire cane stick with the handle. Unfortunately I only received the cane handle so I returned it to Amazon. The company ended up reaching out and explaining the situation and the mishap that had happened. This is a family owned business from Ukraine and there was an error at a fulfillment center. They were willing to offer a full replacement cane for the misunderstanding. Great customer service and great craftsmanship behind their products. Highly recommend this company and product.

Handsome functional cane made by family business in Ukraine
This is a well-made quite good-looking cane. It comes 36" long, which is appropriate for someone 5'11" - or within higher or shorter. If you're much under 5'10" you'll probably want to remove the rubber bottom cover & cut off an inch or more. There are sizing guides on various cane vendors' websites. Like every other Derby style product (L-shaped handle), this is a two-part cane (screw together). A hook cane is stronger, but used correctly this should be quite robust. Just don't abuse it. It comes with an additional rubber tip (they do wear out) and a nylon strap to hang it up or reduce your potential for dropping the cane, if your grip is uncertain. The strap is nothing much, held on with a black stretch fabric loop. Does the job I guess. You can't change the size of the hand loop but you can push the grip on the cane down, so there's less excess loop flopping about. Asterom does sell a leather strap to replace the default nylon one. Don't bother: billed as "Leather" it's actually the polyurethane "pleather" ubiquitous in Chinese products. It's weak fabric, not leather. The loop is quite large & there's no way to tighten it. Make your own strap with some paracord. I'd buy again. In fact, I have: this is my second (I appear to have misplaced the first). Nice product, quite functional & low enough in cost that I'm only cursing my absent-mindedness a little, for losing it. I like that each purchase provides a little support for the economy of Ukraine.
