And are the bags resealable?** A: With 13,400 calories, and knowing that the minimal caloric need for an adult who isn't active is around 1200 calories per day (and you will lose weight at this level), this is roughly a 10-day emergency supply for one person, a 3-day emergency supply for 3 people. If you are truly in any kind of a survival situation for 10 days on this diet where you are active, you will likely lose 5 to 10 lbs or more. If you really need this food, the bags won't be open long enough to worry about the food spoiling... you will eat it too quickly. At $15 per day. That seems excessive for the food alone, so what you are paying for is the storage packaging. Honestly, if you were trapped by an emergency and had only this to rely on, better plan for no more than a week absent significant discipline on your part. **Q: what is the total calories of the kit** A: Could not say for sure. It has a variety of packets, different meals have different calorie count. As i have used some of mine..... I could not say how many of each packet comes in the order. In a survival situation, I would not be able to eat the meat of any animal due to a very serious medical condition.
