Switching to glipizide + insulin, my BG went down to 300-400 on average. However, with berberine 500mg daily it runs about 200-250. At 200 I skip my insulin so I don't crash with the glipizide. As far as side effects, it is a fact that it causes GI pain and discomfort for a few days while you get used to it.
