Unfortunately, the dash in my car isn't really set up to make this easy and my car audio doesn't allow track changes to be routed through it, so my husband decided to pick up this air vent mount to make my life a little easier. I initially tried the mount with my iPhone, but unfortunately it wasn't very useful. The issue is that I have quite a thick case, with an uneven chequered back. The plate didn't work underneath the casing as the casing was simply too thick to allow the magnetic bond to work. The case was too heavy and uneven to also use the outer metal adhesive disc. We have tried this on my husband's iPhone, with thinner (and smoother outer) case and both the outer and inner plates worked fine. So it really is a thickness, texture and weight issue. As I'm not prepared to ditch my beloved phone case, another style of mount is probably more suited for what I have (probably a cradle-style width adjustible pinch-grip).However... I do use this now with my iPod with no problems whatsovever. I use the adhesive disc stuck directly onto the back of the iPod as I have no case for it.
