With the pack of 2 they hold 120 total. Perfect size for carrying around as a "brag book". **Q: Are these acid free and photo safe?** A: I don't know. Mine fell apart while trying to put pictures in. In my opinion they are a waste of money. **Q: Can the white background paper be removed?** A: The white pockets are part of the structure of the pocket, so they cannot be removed. Each album has enough slots inside for 60 4x6 photos; 30 pages where you put one photo in front and another photo on the back of each page. Because this is a pack of 2, you can store up to 120 photos. If you want, you can also remove the paper from the cover and back and have space for an additional 4 photos, but I would not suggest doing that because the sides of the plastic sleeve can break. I removed a star because once I put the photos in, it was hard to remove them without breaking the photo sleeve. You have to be very careful not to break the sides of the sleeve.
