Review: Be patient, very slow to emerge - done not eat plant parts or green berries - I started these indoors 4/8 to be able to transplant outdoors end of June - I live in NY. Early May I took outdoors into a portable greenhouse. Water daily, seedlings started to emerge end of May. I had room for 3 plants , 1 went until a 2’ h x 2.5’w pot, others on north or south spots in a raised bed - full sun. 8/9 I started harvesting - just a few were yellow / mostly green berries ( do not eat green) letting then ripen with an apple and banana near by- very tasty- glad I took the chance to try something new. In the last photo the seedling are in the lower right corner- center is a tomato- kind of looked like basil when small - even the lanterns that look old almost whitish yellow had called to the ground had green unripe berries- 9/4- earlier harvest never ripened with multiple accelerators- so left reminder to ripen on plant best to leave until they fall off or the pouch pulls back and self exposes the berry
Review: It will grow, Need heat - I see a lot of negative reviews regarding germination, so I’m sharing my experience. I started several seeds in one peat container indoor back in March. This is my first year trying out gardening so I had no idea what I was doing. The seeds germinated, slowly. For about two months they all grew to about 2 inches tall. I thought they were not going to make it. But I thought, what’s the worst that could happened. So I transferred the plants to a 5 gallons grow bag. I did not divide up the plants because they looked so fragile and I didn’t want to risk destroying the roots. For another 2-3 weeks they grew about another inch. At this point I thought I had failed and nothing will grow. Then we got a good amount of rain (in Texas) and they took off overnight! I didn’t even get a chance to separate them anymore so all 4-5 seeds ended up growing together in one grow bag. I think the plants like the heat and rain, but that’s my opinion. Pictures were taken on 06/10/25. The plants are doing very well, with lots of fruits growing. I have never had ground cherry before so I cannot comment on the taste, but I’m excited to try it. This was fun to grow and a learning experience for me as well.

## Features

- Beautiful – Large premium packet of Ground Cherries (Physalis pruinosa) seeds. Ground Cherries is an endangered heirloom that deserves a comeback and is fortunately very easy to grow. This rare tomatillo-like plant produces an abundance of golden fruits with a pineapple-vanilla flavor. Consider using landscape cloth for an easier harvest, as fruits often fall to the ground when ripe. Minimum of 400 mg per packet (about 600 seeds).
- Productive – Ground cherries are a slow but reliable germinator. They can germinate anywhere between 14-30 days when soil temps are 70-85°F. Plant 1/4” deep and space 2-3’ apart in an area with full sun. This variety will grow 12-18” tall with a spread of 2-3’. Fruits will mature in 65-75 days, plant in USDA zones 4-8.
- Good Eats – The sweet fruity flavor of this unique tomatillo is highly prized in Mexican cooking. These tasty little fruits are the base for salsa verde or chili verde. Rich in antioxidants.
- Easy to Grow - Instructions included on each packet. Plus, we are available to answer all your questions. If these seeds don’t germinate, we will happily make it right for you.
- Safe and Sustainable - Our operation is fully solar powered, and Sow Right Seeds has taken the Safe Seed Pledge to sell only fresh Non-GMO heirloom seeds for you and your family.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It will grow, Need heat

### ⭐ The seeds are no good.
*by K***S on April 1, 2025*

I ordered these seeds in November so I was sure to have them for spring planting. Not one seed came up. I planted them in the same kind of containers and potting soil as I did my tomato seeds and not one germinated. All my tomato seeds came up. I contacted the seller and they never even got back with me. Amazon "closed" the return in January. How could I know the seeds were no good until I tried starting them in March? I will never buy seeds from them again.
