## Description

50" wide, continuous 3 yard linear length of the finest quality 1.5 oz weight Chopped Strand Mat. Folded and packaged as shown in pictures. Can be used in a variety of hand lay-up applications with epoxy, polyester and vinyl ester resins. Used in the transportation, recreation, marine and construction industries. Please note that this is a powder bound product, making it compatible with all resins. This means that the fibers are not glued together like lesser, emulsion bound, products. However, this also makes it wet out easier and is more conforming. To reduce the annoyance of fibers sticking to your gloves: always wet the surface that the mat is being applied to prior to laying the mat.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is the weight of 1.5 oz calculated?? "cloth is sold according to its weight per square yard"  this is 11.5 oz/sy?!**
A: Yes woven cloth and roving are specified differently.  Chopped strand mat is specified in either grams per square meter or ounces per square foot.   In the case of this product it would be 450 grams per square meter or 1.5 oz per square foot.  We also offer a 1 oz version of this product (also epoxy compatible but the product page is out of date)  it is ASIN: B01N20MS32.  I hope this answers your question.

**Q: can you lay carpet on this? If so what kind of carpet glue should I use on boat carpet? Can this be applied to treated plyboard?ly**
A: This cloth can be applied to wood or metal using fiberglass resin.  Carpet can be applied as with any other smooth surface.  I don't know of a specific adhesive for marine carpet.

**Q: Does this product use a styrene binder? Can I use it with epoxy?**
A: It has a silane binder that is compatible with polyester, epoxy and vinylester resins.  It is powder bound so it comes apart a little easier than emulsion bound and wets out easily.

**Q: Could you use this to reinforce craft concrete or concrete slabs?**
A: I think you would want loose fibers for that.  Most likely in the 1/2" to 1" length.

Put a hole in my boat so I started by fixing it using spray foam, one layer of fiberglass and resin, then I use two layers of polyester structural filler to make the surface level. I put three more layers on of fiberglass and resin, and then gel coat and it worked great. Not the prettiest but no water got in the boat.
