There is more than one bag in each cartridge. We have 2 average-sized cats and have to auto-pack at least every 3 or 4 days. The cartridge lasts about a month, maybe more if you only have one cat. The extra expense of these is well worth the convenience that they provide. We have a cat that likes to dig in our traditional litter box. I love that we don't have a ripped-up bag anymore.
