It's hard to find anything for $1 per pound. As others have said, they are coated with some chemical that really reeks (and I have no idea how toxic it is, so I handled these with vinyl gloves). I washed them all down with dishwashing liquid before use and the stink dissipated fairly quickly. Plates shipped in pairs were weighed and all were accurate enough and closely matched. Plates shipped individually all had a tag indicating they had been weighed and were also closely matched.
