When you flip up the solar panel a light turns on underneath and it's perfect for setting up at night so I can read and draw while out in the wild at night and the radio signal is very clear even from inside my house. The additional charging adapter is great to have on hand to not only charge your phone but a variety of other types of phones as well. There are also 4 different ways to power this item, hand crank, solar, a built in lithium ion battery (charging cable included) and 3 AAA batteries (AAA batteries are not included).
