    Too Thick - Not Flexible

The Probe Port Plug (say that three times) is too thick and not flexible.  The center is full 1/4 inch thick offering no flexibility to push probes through (either probe end or connection end to your controller).  Poor design - The center should be no greater than 1/16 thick material allowing the user to cut an "X" in the center to push any size probe through and have the flexible tabs of the X-cut fill in most of the voids for a partial seal.  There is a larger version of a silicon probe plug that takes a 1-1/4 inch hole that is far superior.  Was trying to avoid buying the Step drill bit, but will have to.This item would be great if the center was thin (no greater than 1/16 inch) with a pre-perforated big X allowing multiple size and multiple quantity probes to go through the hole. As designed, this comes with an 1/8 inch hole.  If I needed only an 1/8 inch hole, i could drill that and have no silicon needed.  my application requires 6 probes for my FireBoard (2 ambient, 6 meat) on my smoker.  No way this item helps or is suitable.  Hope this review helps other in my situation avoid this design.

    BBQ air temperature probe grommet

Just to be clear this type of grommet is not meant to be a pass-through for a meat probe. It is for an air temperature probe. In the first picture you can see how I installed it, with the intention of leaving it permanently mounted. The second picture shows a different type of grommet that is intended has a meat probe pass through.
