CA-590 AC Power Supply Adapter Charger for Canon Camcorders

This is the second time we've ordered this replacement charger for our video camera. In a school environment, we use the camera for our Friday morning "School TV" program. Unfortunately, the connector at the camera is too easily ripped apart when a student trips over the cord. There's really no way to reinforce the connection, except maybe using super glue, but we haven't tried that yet.The charger works well and is soooooo much less expensive than the Canon brand, we're ordering yet another replacement. I wish we could wrap the connector with something to make it less fragile, but in the meantime we'll use it as-is.

The product does what it is suppose to; charge my canon video camera. My only slight critism is that the cord could be longer. When you have the camera on a tripod the cord barely reaches the ground. But all in all it works and is much cheaper then a canon replacement.

After we loss the wall charger for our camcorder we were not able to charge it for use at all. NOTE: must have wall charger to upload any video. DON'T buy a lithium universal battery charger because you will still need to by this wall outlet plug to upload video onto your computer!!!!! Great deal because cannon.com wants $80 for theirs and this one works great. THANKS!!!!!

This charger does NOT charge the battery of my camcorder when it is connected to the camera's "power-in" port. The red light flashes on the camcorder, but after hours of connection the battery has no additional charge. This model of Cannon camcorder requires that the power supply be attached to the camera in order to download video to your computer. Even with a fully charged battery it is not possible to download video unless an external power supply is attached. This "charger" DOES allow me to download video when it is attached to the camera, which is the only reason I didn't immediately return the product.However, in order to charge the battery I have to remove it from the camera and use a separate charger I'd purchased prior to this one (not realizing that charger would not enable me to download video, as it does not connect directly to the camera but requires me to remove the battery and place it in a charging cradle). Be advised if you are looking to replace your original Cannon charger. I have yet to find a single charger that allows me to do everything I need to do.

Good delivery - on time as expected. The online reviews included several remarks that the chargers worked successfully with the same cameras I have. There were other reviews said the chargers did NOT work with the same model camera as mine. Confused.I took a chance and bought TWO chargers. I tested them both on two identical cameras. Voltage markings were correct (8.4 volts) yet the amperage was higher on these replacement units. Both chargers were equipped with the mfg specific connector and plugged right into the cameras. They even caused the "charging" light to flash.HOWEVER, after charging all night, or charging for 30 minutes neither camera showed an increase to battery life remaining. The original charger showed battery life results within minutes.Something is not entirely right with these chargers working with some Canon model cameras. They will be returned.

I like the folding receptical feature. The cord was nice and long. Durable casing and housing. easy to travel with.

Lost my charger that came with my camera in my move.Cannon wanted $71 dollars to replace it with the same old model...Went to Amazon to see what they could do and for 2/3 the price I bought Cannon's updated version (not even offered on their site)that also charges most of the Cannon camera line. Great little unit... You won't be sorry...Hare
