One drop is all you need, no more, it keeps that scum and rot from the roots and works exactly as described. There is no odor even though the bottle looks a bit clinical. Considering I put a drop in the bottle then goes in the cabinet until a few days go by and I need to refresh the rooting water. This is a must have for starting plants, herbs and flowers from clippings.
