Firstly I know two fingers is almost the same as an inch so I took measurements of my bassinet with my fingers & the mattress fits fine. Second the directions say one side of the mattress is for 0-9 months (the firm side which is blue) & the other side is for 9+ ( the soft side white) if you unzip the cover on the mattress you see the white & blue side of the mattress 🙄 squeezing you can’t really tell the difference on both sides but if you lay it flat & press down it, it is indeed firm without making the baby feel like there sleeping on a piece of cardboard. It is not too thick or thin. The quality is great, doesn’t smell like anything.
