Review: Does the job, now Nest E fully functional! - Very simple to install, and it does the job. Wanted to upgrade from an old mercury thermostat to the Nest E. Had 4 wires running up from basement to 2nd floor, no common. Was able to use my G wire as common, but lost independent fan control. So this little guy saved me the cost of a contractor and/or the frustration of spending 4 hours trying to run a new wire, and the system works perfectly! Just make sure your HVAC system supports a C wire in the first place. The first-gen PEK, like the Si, is no longer being made but can still be ordered from certain HVAC supply houses. You can also use the Venstar Add-A-Wire Kit (the most popular one) or other third-party C-wire adapters made for smart thermostats in general; those come with an in-wall multiplexing component as well. Later ecobee models (ecobee3, ecobee3 lite, ecobee4, ecobee SmartThermostat with voice control) come with a PEK designed for that model in the box; use that instead of this device. Those ecobees have internal multiplexing logic for their own PEKs that may not be compatible with other adapters like the Lux. (Same goes for many Honeywell WiFi thermostats as well.) **Q: will this work with the honeywell rth9585wf1004/w wi-fi smart color programmable thermostat, v. 2.0?** A: Yes the power bridge can be installed to provide a common "C" wire path to the thermostat from the furnace if it has a "C" terminal. The input wires going into the splitter were labeled 1,2,3,4 and there were no instructions telling which color wires from the thermostat should go into the numbers. I had to do numerous searches online to figure it out.
