It still fits perfect, but the barrel will protrude out of holster about a half inch. As far as the 3.6 inch barrel it should fit it even better. I have been carrying the 4 inch model in this holster for a few months now and just love it. I have the 3.6 inch on order and will be carrying it as well when it arrives. This holster is very good quality and for the money you can't go wrong. I also have a desantis holster and this holster is every bit as good if not better at a fraction of the cost. **Q: Will this holster fit a s&w m&p 40 2.0 compact 4" barrel?** A: Yes it sure will **Q: Will this work on the m&P 9 shield , the model before the 2.0** A: Not the shield, this listing is for the compact. The holster fits well now but as the holster stretches, I know the barrel and more importantly the front sight will protrude out the bottom of the holster. It already does if I push the pistol to be snug in the holster. The problem with that is the front sight will get caught on the bottom of the holster resulting in a slow draw, or not coming out at all. It fits my G43X length wise perfectly so I will use it for that gun and find a different one for my 2.0. Save yourself 15$ over the glock premium and buy this one for a g43 or g43x.
