The first two times they tasted more grainy, not a great explanation I know but they had a distinctive almost grassy taste that we liked. I was buying bulk thick cut oats at the local markets but now they only carry quick oats. Hard to describe the actual difference in flavor of the Great River oats compared to what i was buying before, the bulk was ok, these oats are better. I literally measure out a heaping quarter cup into a deep bowl, add water, and microwave it.
