Our pond is small, but very deep and lined with clay. Every other aerator we have tried has gotten clogged with clay after just a few weeks. The design of this device is what makes the difference. It has “fingers” that stand up. Air is diffused through slits in the fingers. This design keeps the diffuser out of the clay. In addition, we mounted it on a semi-flotation plate to compensate for the weight of the aerator. It has been in the water for 4 months and is still working as well as the day it was installed. One year update: This aerator has worked perfectly since the day it was installed. It never needs cleaning. Every other aerator we have tried needs to be pulled up every month or two because they clog up with clay. This product is great. Highly recommended.
