Good stuff. This oil based product is incredible. Great coverage. Easy to apply with a 3inch brush. Very dark. Only 1 can so far as a try out. Will need another 10 at least. Expensive but seems worth it. Will watch how it weather's with our coastal climate. Highly recommended.

**Q: Is this any good for fence posts that are in the ground**
A: Yes only give the posts a good coating, make sure the post is dry for the creosote to penetrate , it’s good stuff.

A: Hello, This is the new type of creosote. It still has a smell but not has strong as the old creosote.

**Q: Can I use this product for a chicken coop?**
A: From a forum - hope it helps
The DIY product is called Creocote and is available in 5 Litre bottles Suziequeue. I have been told it is not as effective as original creosote, but it must have some preventative effect. Red mite love clean new wood as I have found out. Within the cracks in it they multiply rapidly, so anything you can do to make the wood 'dirty' has got to help. Make sure, if you can, to turn the coop panels upside down to get the stuff into the tongue and groove joints of the cladding. That may not be possible with some coops. I doubt Creocote will eradicate red mite once they are established though.

**Q: whats is creocote made of**
A: Well I have used all mine , however I have also used the original creosote so a decent difference as creosote used to have tar and other elements that made it effective but it smelt strongly and it was not good hence not available now, Creocote is oil based and has ot giher synthetic elements mainly the dye I suggest , yes it does smell but not a touch on the original creosote and much more watery however you still need white spirit to clean brushes etc , so oil based the manufacturers will provide more precise info
