I find the history of Jaguar facinating having lived very close to the works for many years.  Following on from the life story of Sir William Lyons, then John Egan' "Saving Jaguar"; I finally obtained a copy of Ray Hutton's "Jewels in the Crown" describing Tata' buy out after Ford's poor performance.  All three books purchased from Amazon.  Quite a meaningful source of the Midland's industrial history.  I just hope Land Rover/Jaguar will remaIn in the U.K. for the future prosperity of Britain.

This is a fascinating and well-written memoir. I picked this up to read more at every spare moment.John Egan rescued Jaguar from the jaws of closure and he doesn't spare the detail of how it was achieved, and what stood in his way. 'Saving Jaguar' provides genuine and sometimes surprising insight into these turbulent times.I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone interested in BL, Jaguar, and the motor industry or industrial relations generally.

My father had always hankered after a Jaguar and finally had the opportunity to buy a new XJ6 (the first of several) in the early-80's. That inspired my own avid interest in the marque. Reading this book gave a fascinating behind the scenes insight to the struggles and near-dissolution of the company.Unlike many of this genre of book, the author is generous and detailed about not just his contribution, but that of the many people in his management team and beyond that facilitated and implemented his vision.
