The handle is very smooth and nicely finished. This cleaver has a unique design that enhances both safety and usability. It has a finger hole that helps provide a secure grip and improves handling. It also has jimpings that help provide exceptional control and prevent slippage. These features are not commonly seen in kitchen cleavers, but are utilized in outdoor utility and tactical knives. It has good weight and it feels solid. It has a nice balance, and the ergonomics make it incredibly comfortable to hold. The sheath it comes with is also nice and sturdy. This cleaver can definitely handle any kitchen cutting tasks that requires a cleaver. It could even take the beating from outdoor recreational use as the design appears to be capable of that. However, I don't intend to use it for that purpose because it is too pretty to be used as a beater. This cleaver is also SHARP out of the box and is ready to tackle my kitchen cutting tasks. It tested it to chop crispy pork belly and it accomplished this task easily.
