I've been looking for a set fitted with a mic, provide good sound and have some element of noise cancelling, albeit in this case not active noise cancelling, I'm a big fan of Sennheiser headphones and earbuds and I do own a couple of different pairs. However neither have a mic on them, so they're not well suited for use with my mobile which is what this set is used with. Needless to say the other 2 sets didn't come up to scratch for various reasons, either it was lack of comfort or it was disappointing sound. I've now settled on the GOgroove earbuds and after a month's use, I can honestly say I'm very, very pleased with them. I seriously doubt I'll be looking for a 4th pair to try out anytime soon that's for sure.I drive a lot in a van, which isn't equipped with either bluetooth or USB connections. On most journeys I listen to podcasts and my music as well as Audible audio-books. About a year ago I finally dropped using my small iPod in favour of my HTC One X. In order to take calls and listen to the content on the phone I needed a set of earbuds equipped with the mic. The HTC headphones that came with the phone broke relatively early on with use (the left ear going dead). I replaced them with another set of HTC headphones and they're not very comfortable for long term use. The 2nd set just didn't have much depth to them, no base and the voice quality wasn't great (no good for podcasts or audio-books) although music quality was better; but they were quickly dismissed.Thankfully they weren't an expensive pair and my daughter now uses them as they're certainly better that the standard earbuds that came with her iPhone. Horses for courses I guess.OK, so why didn't I buy a set of Sennheiser earbuds with a mic? I can tell you I certainly looked at Sennheiser as well as other more expensive makes, but in the end it was basically down to the increased cost for the level of quality I was after, plus I was concerned about having a set of expensive earbuds rattling around in an a work van and leaving them possibly exposed and in view should a light fingered tea-leaf want to smash a window and take them. So I went on the hunt for a quality pair of buds which didn't cost an arm and a leg, and met my sound criteria. And luckily I found the GOgroove. They’re comfortable over long periods, cut out a lot of the noise from the van, but not all of it which is exactly what I needed. And the sound quality is excellent. Great bass response and spoken word is reproduced extremely well which is essential for the podcasts and audio-books. The music reproduction is also 1st class and I can’t fault that either. As soon as I get into my van, this set of buds gets plugged straight into the phone and I wear them pretty constantly for up to 3-4 hours at a time and you don’t really know you have them in. What more could I ask for?If there is a drawback, it’s a small one. There isn’t any feedback from the mic when you are taking a call. So good is the noise cancelling element, that you can’t properly hear yourself talking except through your head, so I tend to loosen one of the buds when I make or take calls in order to be able to hear myself better. It’s an odd thing, but it’s no show stopper. Maybe GOgroove could look at that going forward, but as I say it doesn’t bother me that much. Comfort and quality was my main criteria and this set of buds certainly exceed my expectations in these areas. As for people listening to me on the other end of a call, most have said they didn’t even know I was driving as there is no road or vehicle noise and I sound perfectly clear.OK, so this review of the GOgroove earbuds is posted after using them for nearly a month, but I can say honestly say I am more than pleased with the purchase. They really are a great set of earbuds. When you take into account how inexpensive they are when compared to the bigger names as well like Sennheiser, then they are better than great.These will likely be the last set of earbuds I'll need for some time, although if for some reason I need to replace them, I’ll certainly buy another pair.Oh and I will very likely buy another pair soon anyway, this time for my daughter to replace the mediocre ones she took from me to replace the earbuds used with her iPhone. It’s about time she knew what good sound really is don’t you think? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Better than more expensive earbuds *by F***Z on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 September 2013* While I like good sound, I'm not an audiophile (e.g. I can tell the difference between 96kbps and 128kbps, but the advantage/quality of 320kbps is lost on me). I also don't like lugging around big headphones, so wanted something smaller for my commutes/travels. I lost my more expensive Sennheisers, and so got these as replacements. Surprisingly, despite being much cheaper, they are much better.The bass is noticeably better -- no rattling at the really low end even at very high volumes. Also, unlike the Sennheisers, the button piece is small and unobstrusive (doesn't get hung up on clothing). With the right bud size on, it's very comfortable to wear (longest time I've worn it so far is one hour straight).Very good for phone calls as well. I diagnosed this to be a broken/loose cable.The cable kept getting tangled and easily snagged on things. When my phone was in my pocket the rubbery texture of the cable meant it was not easy to remove the phone.Edit -The design of these headphones fail on a couple of areas, the rubbery cable (see reason above) and the standard 3.5mm jack. The jack really needs to be a 90 degree jack.
