The light doesn't have a hotspot and cast a nice clean beam. Mine did not come with a owners manual. That being said its not like its a complicated design to figure out. The light changes brightness and strobe effect by multiple button flashes and the laser strobes by a double tap. I would have liked for the mode to stay on the last selected but it defaults back to bright and steady laser when it is tapped on and off. There is also not a charging indicator on the unit. The magnetic charger does not seem to attach very well and I can only hope that it is charging.
