This cassia species is very popular in the tropics for its decorative appearance and because of its ability to withstand hurricanes. As a pot and tub plant, respectively, the Cassia glauca can be cultivated well within our regions bearing flowers between May and the end of July. However, pods are rarely produced in our latitudes. Origin: The scrambled egg tree is indigenous to India, Myanmar and Indonesia. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors at any time throughout the year. They must, however, be pretreated before sowing, Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature or hot water (e.g. an old Thermos flask) for about 24 hours. Spread the seeds out on moist cultivation soil and press them 1 cm deep into the soil afterwards. Keep the container evenly moist, however, not too weet, until germination in 3-4 weeks.
