Before I had a shoulder replacement I used a large, petrol Stihl hedge trimmer with a 28" blade and rotating handle. I have approximately 50metres of mature leylandii hedge over 8feet high. This trimmer cuts through like a hot knife through butter. It is so lightweight but with 24" blades makes it as easy to shape the hedge. Being battery powered it sound 'weedy', but don't be misled. I also have the pole trimmer version but use that just for rounding over the top and hard to reach areas. The 40v battery lasts for about half the job but there is no obvious loss of power until it dies completely. This is good for use but means you can come to an abrupt stop and have to wait about 2 hours for it to recharge. Would I recommend them Hell yes. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Serious medium duty hedgetrimmer. *by S***G on 25 March 2026* This is quite a serious hedge trimmer with it's big 60cm cutter, but whilst the claimed 27mm bite would work on the likes of Hemlock and hogweed, it's not keen to chew through branches as thick. However on finer hedging material and brush it crisply romps through it in a satisfying way with a long reach broad swathe.
