## Description

You will receive a live healthy adult size Venus Flytrap Plant. It comes with a 3 inch net pot, just like the one in the picture, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed caresheet, written by an experienced Venus Flytrap grower specifically designed for beginners, explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytrap's pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytrap's pot in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather are not necessary. Don't be fooled by other offers for Venus Flytraps that have them arrive in or with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. Venus Flytraps take about 2-3 years from seed to reach a decent size. A kit with Venus Flytrap seeds is not going to quickly turn into a Venus Flytrap about the size of the one offered in this listing. A beginner new to Venus Flytraps should be aware that if Venus Flytrap seeds are bought, even with a kit, that it will take at least 2 1/2 to 3 years, assuming it is grown correctly, to reach the size of the Venus Flytraps offered in this listing.

Review: Healthy grouping of plants! - The plants arrived nicely packaged along with their planting medium, plant pot, plant description sheet, care sheet, potting diagram, and contact information regarding any additional questions that may come up. i have planted the plants with the included material, per instructions and diagram and 3 hours later the plants have their stems holding up the fly trap portion, to me this is a quick positive response to acclimate to their new environment. Great value for the kind of plants. their size were nice and easy to work with and arrange. appearance wise they look really strong and healthy with good roots and proper hydration and condition of their stems and trap portion. the bundle of shipped plants had an appropriate amount of moisture in their container for shipping.
Review: Gorgeous little plants, twice as many as described, arrived in vibrant health and thriving ever since. - Received six (!) lovely little flytrap plants in excellent condition. It's great that they are shipped bare-root, as it makes it easy to verify that bugs aren't traveling with them, and they stay in great shape even if the box is turned over or knocked around. Flytraps are always tricky to grow, so it's also very helpful that these came with detailed instructions. Also included were the sphagnum growing medium and an open-mesh-style pot, everything I needed except the four-inch bowl to keep underneath (for water). I started them on distilled water, and now I'm using the condensation water that drips from the outside of our air conditioner. It's been a couple of months since the plants arrived, and they're alive, growing, and catching the occasional fly in their sunny outdoor spot. Some outer traps turned black after planting, but that's normal senescence, especially after shipping, and all six plants have continued to grow more green, healthy traps. Two have even produced flower stalks, which I'll be cutting off (as the plants are rather small to be trying to support seed production), but I'm going to try planting the stalks, because I've read that a flower stalk can generate new plantlets at its base if I just stick it in the wet sphagnum moss. The plants were a hit with my son's first-grade class for show and tell, too.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I noticed that my Venus Fly traps are not getting any flies,Ect.Will they be alright?**
A: You can go to the pet store and buy dried fish food that will work. Flies, worms, etc. You only need to feed a little crumb to each plant about once every two weeks.

**Q: My daughter has a science fair project with 2 other girls. Are these flytraps big enough to feed manually and observe results?**
A: Yes just plant in container and follow instructions for set up. Feed them small crickets you can get at a pet store. Dont activate traps unless feeding, otherwise youll stress out the plant.

**Q: i lived in south america, it usually takes like 2 weeks to get to my house, will they still be alive by the time they get here?**
A: I only ship within the US. Assuming they go to a US address and are later taken to another country, not by any shipping method I use, they can survive at 2 weeks in their box but they will be significantly set back by this. It will cause more shedding than normal and the plant will take longer to settle in and start growing well.

**Q: Would this variety be best for common house flies, fruit flies and gnats? If not, which ones would be?**
A: These would be best for fruit flies and better for gnats than the larger ones, though really only the smallest traps will eat the gnats. The larger ones will catch flies. At least some of the traps with this item will be large enough to catch flies.

### ⭐ Didn't work out for me :(
*by S***A on July 18, 2015*

I read a lot of reviews where other people had positive experiences with their plant but I can't say the same with mine. I ordered these FlyTraps along with Succulents and Cactus on Amazon, all at the same time. Everything arrived at my house on the same day as well from the different companies. The plants from the non-related companies arrive already potted and ready to go, the box was labelled live plant of the non-related companies and UPS kept the boxes up right. The plants from JoelsCarnivorousPlants arrived in plastic bags with damp paper towels in the plastic bags along with the plants without any indication that I could see on the box indicating it was a live plant, could be because it was just in a plastic bag. I quickly took them out and followed the instructions to pot them. I had my distilled water ready to go like the instructions said. I waited a few days and only a few heads of the plant died which I assumed was a possibility was it traveled to sunny Arizona. After a few more days the other heads of my plant opened up ready for their yummy live meal. Flies were instantly attracted to them and started crawling all over them but never in the mouths of my plants. After a few more days of patiences eventually flies went in the little mouths and it was amazing to watch the mouths close up to eat their meal. More than 4 days passed and the mouths of the plants stayed closed. I researched online and saw that it did take days for the plants to devour their meals so I waited patiently for the plants to open back up. But instead of opening up they died. Each one that ate a fly died within days of eating. I tried clipped off the blacked heads as they appeared but the plant just kept dying until it was all gone. I'm honestly not sure what caused it to die the moment it ate the flies but for me the plant did not personally work out. Others might have different luck. It could be the flies in my state, it could be that it was going to die within a few weeks of showing up anyway because of the delivery, I honestly don't know. Another thing to note was that the moss and plants had a horrific stench which might have been why so many flies were attracted to the plant. I didn't know where to keep the plant as the smell was too much to keep in my bedroom, bathroom, or even kitchen. An awful smell could be something typical that comes along with these plants so be warned it is a possibility.
